The City of Anahuac is located primarily in the middle of the county. It serves as the main business center for the smaller unincorporated communities of Wallisville, Hankamer, Double Bayou, Oak Island, and Smith Point. With Interstate 10 located six miles north of the city limits and many other state and local highways, such as State Highway 61, FM 562, FM 563, FM 1724, and Jenkins Road, linking the area, transportation of goods and services could have a positive economic impact on this area.
